Objectives/Work Plan

In 2008, the focus of RAB’s work is to deliver advice to the Secretary of State, BERR, on delivery of the UK’s share of the EU target for 20% renewable energy by 2020. In order to provide comprehensive, but targeted advice, RAB has established eight workstreams to supervise the delivery of defined tasks.

Task 18 Government-Industry strategy for renewables supply chain expansion
Activity: RAB work group to draw up outline of activities to develop a joint Government/RAB view on how to achieve the necessary expansion in the capacity of the supply chain for renewables deployment by the end of 2008, and the UK business opportunity from this expansion. Initially, RAB to peer review a BERR study by Douglas Westwood Ltd identifying supply chain constraints across renewable generation technologies. Follow-on work will need to consider the built environment, heat and transport sectors.

Task 19 Quick Wins
Activity: This Task was superseded by the publication of the Defra market information report on waste wood as a biomass fuel.
